Today, lessons were suspended in schools and administrations affiliated with the Directorate of Education in Sweida (until further notice). The suspension was based on a decision with unclear reasons. Some say it was imposed by the National Guard Command.
Others say it was a decision of the Directorate of Education.
In both cases, the decision managed to close the schools for students.
The irony is that at the same time, there was a group of students who were fully concerned… and solely focused on the future of the country.
They had a different opinion. Through debate and logical reasoning, they concluded (in my personal estimation) that one of the solutions is to distance education from political hotspots, vested interests, and their corruption. They concluded that dialogue is binding for everyone and that all parties in a conflict must be allowed to sit at the negotiating table, even if we are enemies.
They also emphasized the need to force all parties in a conflict to continue the educational process. This is a generation that will not passively watch its future being destroyed. It will not turn the other cheek to the enemy who smites it, nor will it be content to complain.
